

Meet Chef John Thomas, our next featured chef for the Whispered Cellar Society. A Clifton, NJ native who grew up skating, drumming, and experimenting with flavor, John’s path to the kitchen was anything but traditional.

After shifting from music to restaurants, he hustled his way through every corner of the industry—Zinburger openings, Jersey City hotspots, Morristown kitchens, country clubs, hotels, fine dining, even private jet catering. His style evolved into a bold blend of his Mediterranean and Middle Eastern roots mixed with global influences from Asia, Latin America, and South America.
In 2021, an unexpected job loss pushed him toward private dining, and everything changed. What started as intimate dinners quickly grew into backyard BBQs, weddings, festivals, pop-ups—and the moment that launched him into the national spotlight: his appearance on Food Network’s Chopped. The show showcased his creativity and drive, fueling a surge of attention, press, and opportunities.

That momentum led to his proudest venture yet: The Beastro, his brick-and-mortar spot in Willington, where his signature comfort-meets-global style comes fully to life.
